20TH Birthday CREATIVE concept
THE ASK
For my 20th birthday, I set out to create a celebration that felt more like a creative milestone. “The Librat” was born from being born in October and the desire to express a new chapter through bold visuals and intentional styling. Inspired by the energy of 80s pop culture, the concept called for a photoshoot and short video that captured vibrant color, nostalgic flair, and a confident sense of self.

THE SKILLS
The concept for The Librat started with a feeling — stepping into my twenties with confidence, curiosity, and a little bit of chaos. I pulled inspiration from 80s pop culture, drawn to its unapologetic use of color, bold silhouettes, and playful energy. I envisioned the styling as loud but intentional, like a visual mixtape of vintage glamour and personal growth.
A key part of the look was the hair: a traditional 80s-inspired blowout with major volume and bounce. It added that signature drama and helped tie the entire aesthetic together.
To lean deeper into the theme of nostalgia, I included photos from my own childhood, printed and styled in a classic Polaroid photo album. It symbolized reflection, growth, and the idea that everything leading up to this moment was just as beautiful and important as what’s next. Moodboards, vintage media, and personal memories all helped shape a concept that felt equal parts playful and powerful.

The “Librat" became more than just a birthday shoot. It was a creative reflection of where I’ve been and where I’m going. The final visuals captured everything I imagined—bold, nostalgic, and full of personality. Through this project, I refined my creative direction skills and discovered how personal storytelling can leave a lasting impact.
